    What is Cooking with Confidence?

Hello and Thank You for Visiting!

Cooking in your kitchen may come easy for most, you walk in and get down to business. The ability to nourish our bodies, feed a craving, cook for family and friends can bring much joy.

Unfortunately, it's not that easy for all. When we decide to do something, there's a level of positive confidence that's behind our choices to move forward.

Over the past years, I have heard countless times people telling me they don’t know how to cook, they can't cook or they’re not a good cook. This means they avoid the kitchen and don’t do anything to increase their confidence level and overcome their challenges.

Hesitation, self-doubt, high expectations, past negative experiences are some of the things that can hold us back from doing what we enjoy or want to enjoy the most. Cooking is no different. As they say, "Cooking is Edible Love." But to add a flavor of love and joy into your cooking, a level of confidence is a must.

Ever since I was a little girl, I could be found in the kitchen helping my mom, grandmothers, and aunts. Now, coming from a Hispanic family written recipes really don't exist. I've always had to learn by watching and tasting. It's a pinch of this a dash of that, a handful of this or just eyeball it, those were my options.

I come from a long line of wonderful and loving cooks who embrace our culture. When I got married and started to have children, I wanted to bring them up with the same type of love and respect for home cooked meals as I did. The smile my children give me when I make something extra special is priceless. As they are getting older, most will say they have a more experienced palate then most kids and my youngest tells me he wants to be a chef and is always willing to give me a hand in the kitchen which is an extra perk for me!

When my husband and I made the move to Texas, away from our families I wanted to learn how to make my favorite traditional dishes as my grandmother and mother-in-law did. So, there I was with my notebooks and eager to learn.

It took me a couple or even a few tries to get them just right, but I was focused, determined and never gave up. I incorporated my own techniques with family recipes and soon enough, I nailed it. I kept my confidence high even when something didn't come out as expected, as we can be our worst critic. How many times have you said to yourself "That doesn't taste the same as ____." But that's okay, Try again!

Together we will determine your roadblocks and trigger that is keeping you away from that feeling of personal satisfaction and fulfillment. Eating home cooked food is not only healthier and cheaper than eating out all the time, but it can also be a de-stressor, an opportunity for quality time with family and friends, and a Great way of using the creative side of the brain.

Past Negative Experiences Can Lead to Fear.
